PROFILE OF ECWA GUEST HOUSE AND EVENT HALL, ILORIN
1976, Kwara state was created as one of the early twelve states of the federation and Ilorin was made the capital of the state. Due to this development and the centralization of the location, many people came around for different functions and as a result it created an airstrip that helped Government functionaries and Missionaries to seek for places to pass the night whenever it is necessary. This spur ECWA Ilorin DCC Executive to embarked on the operation of Guest House, because of the nearness of the DCC office to the Government house, hence, the establishment of four rooms Guest House in 1976.
As time goes on, there were additional five rooms. The guest rooms function very well until 2016 when four of the old guest rooms were renovated and converted to residential use age.
However, in March, 2013, another set of the ECWA Ilorin DCC Executive at its meeting decided to proffer a lasting solution to the problem of non-payment of pastors’ and other workers salaries under the DCC. The DCC Chairman, Rev. S. S. Ajise, and the DCC Secretary, Rev. Dr. E. O. Malomo, along with other DCC executive members decided to embark on an investment that would yield better proceeds in the nearest future.
In view of provisions of the ECWA Financial Policy and Guidelines, the DCC secured a loan of seventy five million naira from the ECWA Staff Investment Scheme (ESIS). Five million naira was added from the DCC income to complete the ultra–modern Guest House and event hall.
The project was dedicated on 11th July, 2015, by ECWA Vice President, Rev. Dr. John O. Aina. It is a building of 23 guest rooms’ en-suite and an event hall with a sitting capacity of 1000 people at the basement alongside the already existing five rooms. This brings the total number of rooms to 28.
